The Killing of

Robert Wilson

On March 4, 2014, Drakkar Malone was driving east on 15th Avenue near Beyer Elementary with Robert Wilson in the front passenger seat and a young woman in the backseat when an unmarked police squad car began aggressively following their vehicle. Malone later told reporters that the unmarked vehicle struck his car from behind, causing him to lose control.

The Monte Carlo crashed into a tree. The crash killed 17-year-old Robert Wilson, left Drakkar Malone paralyzed from the neck down, and caused severe injuries to the young woman in the backseat.

This incident was investigated and ruled justified by the Winnebago Boone County Integrity Task Force. It was the sixth case reviewed by the task force, the seventh deadly force incident of the 2010s, and the first justified case involving a high-speed pursuit.
